HDB Rebrands Resale Levy As ‘Ungrateful Sinkie Success Tax’
The Housing Development Board has officially renamed the Resale Levy to the ‘Ungrateful Sinkie Success Tax’ to better reflect its purpose of punishing upward mobility.
Officials stated that any citizen attempting to profit from their first home deserves to be financially kneecapped before being allowed to move to a slightly less depressing estate.
The levy ensures that even if you manage to escape a life of communal living in Sengkang, the government still gets a "taste" of your capital gains.
“Wah lau, I sell my Jurong flat, I think I big shot already, then HDB come and ask for forty-thousand like some kind of licensed ah long,” complained local homeowner, Tan Ah Kow.
“They say is for fairness, but I feel like I paying protection money just to buy a bigger kitchen for my wife to nag me in.”
HDB clarified that the fee is a "loyalty fine" for the audacity of wanting more than one subsidized roof over your head.
Future updates include an "Oxygen Surcharge" for anyone who dares to breathe while viewing property brochures.
