Singapore’s concrete canals have finally birthed a champion capable of surviving a flash flood without crying for a government handout.

A local monitor lizard has been clocked swimming through the Kallang River at speeds that make our Olympic hopefuls look like asthmatic bricks.

Sports officials are reportedly considering replacing all human lifeguards with these scaly predators to encourage faster lap times through sheer, primal terror.

"I see him chiong in the longkang every morning, so fast one sia!" noted resident Lim Kopi, while filming the reptile for a viral TikTok.

"Last time my son swim very slow, now he see the biawak opening mouth, he straightaway fly like butterfly, confirm gold medal one!"

Experts suggest the lizard’s superior agility stems from a strict diet of discarded fish heads and the salty tears of overworked tuition students.

If the reptile continues its record-breaking pace, it will soon be offered a ministerial salary and a commemorative postage stamp.
