British expatriate Alistair Montgomery-Smythe has traded his Orchard penthouse for a 3-room HDB flat in Yishun, calling it the ultimate "gritty reboot" of his personality.

He now treats the communal corridor as a "curated avant-garde art space" rather than a fire hazard overflowing with rotting shoe racks.

Alistair claims that showering with a plastic bucket provides a "raw, spiritual connection" to the local proletariat that his previous infinity pool lacked.

Local neighbour Auntie Bee Kuan was less than impressed by his sudden dedication to "peasant chic."

"He stay here three days only already complain no aircon, then go downstairs ask me why the cat so fat, siao eh," she remarked while brandishing a bamboo pole.

Undeterred, Alistair has launched a TikTok series titled ‘Slumming It,’ reviewing the aesthetic value of void deck funeral floral arrangements.
