Singaporean Woman Sues Fiancé Over Proposal’s Insufficient Instagram Engagement
Local influencer Cheryl Tan has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against her fiancé for failing to "break the internet" during his proposal.
Despite a 4-carat diamond and a private yacht, the post only garnered 400 likes, leading Tan to claim severe reputational trauma and emotional distress.
Tan’s legal team argues that a proposal is no longer a romantic gesture, but a performance review of a man’s ability to secure viral sponsorships.
"I cannot stay with a man who don't know how to use the correct hashtags and lighting," Tan sobbed while scrolling through her stagnant feed.
"My friend Joleen proposed at Marina Bay with 500 drones, but this cheapskate only got me one pathetic videographer from Carousell, damn sian, like I’m a charity case."
Experts suggest the engagement will only be legally binding once the "She Said Yes" reel reaches at least 100,000 views on TikTok.
Tan has since returned the ring, stating she cannot build a life with someone who possesses such "poverty-tier" digital sensibilities.
